The spread of coronavirus has forced the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare a global emergency and pandemic on Wednesday. The virus, which first appeared in China’s Hubei Province, has spread like wildfire to virtually every continent.
There are also suggestions prophecies of plague can be found in the Old Testament – passages and scripture penned before the birth of Jesus Christ.
One person said on Twitter: “We living in Old Testament Times.. We are Living in The Old Testament Times.. And that #coronavirus yall look..
“Its a plague from Almighty God.. It’s not from Satan no no.. Its from God himself because God is sick and tired sick and tired!!!!”
Another person said: “By the way, all this Coronavirus thing is managing to convert me into Christianity: I think all the answers are definitely there.
Zechariah 6 reads: “I looked up again, and there before me were four chariots coming out from between two mountains—mountains of bronze.
“The first chariot had red horses, the second black, 3 the third white, and the fourth dappled—all of them powerful.”
Bible experts believe the chariots, possibly the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, represent different cataclysms that will befall Earth in the end times.
Mr Flurry said: “The Wuhan coronavirus is only a small part of the overall picture. Other plagues are already spreading in cities closer to home.
“These are not dusty old prophecies. They are mostly for our time today.”
Three is, however, no evidence to back the claim the coronavirus is biblical or prophetic in nature.
The coronavirus family has been responsible for epidemics in the past, such as the 2002 to 2003 SARS epidemic in Asia.
The WHO said: “We can channel our concerns into actions to protect ourselves, our loved ones and our communities.
“First and foremost among these actions is regular and thorough hand-washing and good respiratory hygiene.
“Secondly, keep informed and follow the advice of the local health authorities including any restrictions put in place on travel, movement and gatherings.”
