Christian scripture is clear about one thing: the Second Coming of Christ will happen. But there is no widely accepted belief on when this will happen or how the Second Coming will unfold. Conspiracy theorists and doomsday prophets believe the end days will see cataclysmic events wreak havoc across the surface of the planet.
“Look, I don’t know where it’s at, but there’s no doubt about it. Something’s shaking things up there.”
But what exactly does the Bible have to say about the Second Coming?
Jesus said in Matthew 24: “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.
“And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.”
Revelation 1 reads: “Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him, and all tribes of the earth will wail on account of him. Even so. Amen.”
And Hebrews 9 reads: “So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.”
But the Bible does not specify when the Second Coming will unfold and Jesus Christ himself was clear, no one will know the date of his return.
He said in Matthew 24: “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
