The red heifers form part of an elaborate plan to reclaim Jerusalem’s former glory through the construction of a third Holy Temple. The efforts are being led by the Temple Institue, a religious organisation dedicated to the restoration of Judaism’s holiest seat of worship. The return of the Temple plays a critical role in doomsday prophecies in Jewish and Christian prophecies alike.
Many believe the Third Temple’s construction will precede the arrival of the Messiah.
And the sacrifice of a red heifer in the dedication of the Third Temple will supposedly facilitate these prophecies to unfold.
Rabbi Azaria Ariel, who is leading the institute’s efforts to raise a heifer worthy of sacrifice, has recently inspected new candidates for the role.
One of two mature candidates has been declared viable, despite having some hairs that are not red enough – a prerequisite dictated by Halakhah or Jewish law.

Two new heifers were also born in early in 2020 and they are also considered viable for sacrifice, at least for the time being.
According to scripture, the sacrifice of a red heifer was dictated to Moses by God.
Numbers 19 in the Hebrew Bible reads: “This is a requirement of the law that the LORD has commanded: Tell the Israelites to bring you a red heifer without defect or blemish and that has never been under a yoke.”
Similar instructions are found in Deuteronomy 21:3: “And it shall be, that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heifer, which hath not been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the yoke;”
The sacrifice of the heifer will involve burning its carcass to obtain its purified ashes.
Purifying the ashes will enable the kohanim or Temple priests to achieve a heightened level of spiritual purity.
In a video update shared online, Rabbi Azaria said: “We are hoping, with God’s help, to raise a kosher red heifer, with the intention of fulfilling the commandment of creating the ashes of the red heifer, and thus enabling all of Israel to be purified from the impurity of tame met, and thereby be able to perform many commandments that required spiritual purity, such as trumot and ma’aserot (tithes), and many commandments whose proper performance are reliant on the purifying power of the ashes of the red heifer.
“In the meantime, we are standing next to a red heifer candidate whose status is somewhat uncertain.

“She bears a patch of hair that is not currently sufficiently red, but there is a very real possibility that these hairs will redden before too long.
“And then we will return and check her again, with the hope that she will at that time be kosher for the performance of the commandment of the red heifer.”
The long-awaited update has been welcomed by Christian evangelists who believe biblical prophecy is unfolding in the Holy Land.
The world was stunned two years ago when the Temple Institute announced the birth of its first red heifer in 2,000 years.
Paul Begley, a Christian preacher and online personality, has now argued this is a major moment for all Christendom.
The firebrand preacher said: “This situation of the red heifer is so important because it’s only been done nine times in history.
“From Moses till now, it’s only been done nine times.”
He added: “How close are they to building the Third Temple? I’ll tell you how close.
“The UAE just signed a covenant with Israel, there’s five other Arab nations that are about to also sign with Israel, and they’ve got two red heifers that are ready to go.”
However, according to Christian scripture, there is no way of predicting when the end of the world will unfold.
Jesus Christ said in the gospels: “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
